MyDigital ID

MyDigital ID is the official Malaysian government app for identifying yourself with several online services and institutions. Developed by MIMOS Berhad, under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) of Malaysia, MyDigital ID allows you to manage your digital identity and sign documents and transactions online. MyDigital ID integrates with third-party apps, providing a secure environment to complete operations without fear of vulnerabilities.

Secure three-step authentication

MyDigital ID incorporates a three-step authentication mechanism for each transaction, strengthening security in the face of any possible phishing attempts. You have to scan your face, take photos of your MyKad ID, and set a password at least eight characters in length when completing the sign-up process. To access the app, you can use additional biometric methods, such as your fingerprint. It is important to bear in mind that MyDigital ID does not replace MyKad, which is used for face-to-face transactions. It is also different from PADU, which is the Malaysian database of citizens and permanent residents.

Integration with third-party apps

The app is designed to be used with other mobile apps that require authentication and digital signatures. By integrating with MyDigital ID, these apps can leverage the security infrastructure to authenticate users and sign transactions without the need for identity management systems of their own.

Safety and privacy

Everything in MyDigital ID is encrypted, so data is kept private and protected. Information is never shared with third parties, thus minimizing the risk of a data leak or unauthorized access to personal data. User credentials and passwords aren't stored locally either, so even if there were vulnerabilities, an attacker would not be able to exploit them in order to obtain a user's personal information.
